Department Bio - The George Washington University Simulation and Experiential Learning Lab is a hands-on, interprofessional space that supports learning across the health sciences using simulation-based education. The lab features high-fidelity manikins, task trainers, standardized patients, and audiovisual systems to help learners build clinical skills, communication, and teamwork in a safe environment. Student Simulation Lab Assistants support daily lab activities by helping set up and break down simulations, maintaining equipment, and assisting faculty and learners during sessions, playing an important role in the smooth operation of the lab.

Position Specific Summary - Student Simulation Lab Assistant –GWUSchool of NursingThe Student Simulation Lab Assistant supports the daily operations of theGWUSimulation and Experiential Learning Lab (located in Ashburn, VA) by performing basic laboratory duties and helping maintain supplies, equipment, and inventory. This role assists with preparing and maintaining a clean, organized, and safe learning environment for simulation-based educationTasks may include:

• cleaning simulation equipment, manikins, and lab spaces
• setting up and resetting simulation and skill rooms and manikins
• labeling medications and stocking bedside carts
• maintaining the student practice lab
• support special projects or other duties as assigned based on lab needs.

Standard Position Description - The student will perform basic laboratory duties and maintain supplies and stocks/inventory.Tasks may include: assisting in specific projects being completed in the lab; preparing experiments, cleaning equipment and lab space, caring for animals or plants, and assisting students.Special projects or other duties may be assigned related to specific departmental needs.

Required Qualifications - This is an entry level position, little to no experience required, all training will be provided (Students working in an instructional capacity should be very familiar with the subject area in which they are working).

Preferred Qualifications - Nursing students who have a working knowledge of patient care, medication labels, medical equipment and supplies.
